Why create a Hero's List?

For some time, I have been seeking media stories that move me and post them on my Facebook profile when I am feeling like I need an example or a kick in the butt.   When something inspires me to act better, reach farther, or just stop feeling sorry for myself, I linked the story to my FB page.  Now, I will be entering them here.
I look for stories of folks who have overcome a lot, or people who live beyond themselves and their needs and wants, or parents who work to level the playing field for their own or someone else's child(ren).  Businesses can not be a part of the list because they are not people making choices. If businesses should act heroically, they will be recognized in the Honorable Mention section of the blog.

But as luck would have it, I don't see anything especially inspiring today, so here's a news organization that has its own Hero's List with some really excellent people doing meaningful things to help their part of the world:
